The first issue I had as a young mum was colic,

I had the new colicky baby that screamed from 10.00pm until 2.00am…… The fatigue was terrible. There were remedies …..around but nothing very helpful…. Gripe water…..arrrrgh! The only thing that helped was holding his little body in my forearm, his little head in my hand, letting his legs hang……I sat like that for hours as soon as I thought he might sleep and try and put him down……. He would start again!!!!!

I found out some years later that osteopaths are extremely helpful in these situations…..wish I knew then. That is one avenue I would try.

I have also gone down a few alternative paths and one area that I am starting to look into is Bowen Therapy.

The Better Health Channel, state that ” Bowen Therapy is a remedial body technique that is gentle and relaxing. It helps the body’s own healing resources to achieve balance and harmony, which can result in lasting relief from pain and discomfort. It is a holistic remedial body technique that works on the soft connective tissue of the body and can be used to treat musculoskeletal or related neurological problems including acute sports injuries and cronic organic conditions. It is gentle and relaxing and does not use forceful manipulation. This makes it safer for all ages.

I have had Bowen Therapy my self and would be very fussy who I would go to, ask around in your neighbourhood for a therapist, the best recommendation is someone who has been and had good results.

You should not need to keep going back every week, unless it is a cronic condition. One or two sessions should be enough to get relief.

My therapist is also into Touch for Health, Reikei, Kinesiology and Bowen, I am made to feel very welcome when I go there and it is a quiet room, I lie down on a massage type table and am covered with warm blankets. There is beautiful music playing. We will have a chat about what the problem might be and the very gentle process begins. It feels like your muscles are being moved lifted and replaced in a different position. I always feet fantastic when I leave, takes about an hour.

I know if I had a young baby that suffered with colic it is definitely something I would try. Make sure you and baby have a session each! Take someone with you to take care of the baby when it is your turn. This is an affiliate link for BabyBowen, hope it is helpful.
